During the Covid lockdown, Chloe Dalton found an abandoned leveret outside her house and raised it, intervening as little as possible with its developement and inclinations, allowing it to come or go as it wished. She was rewarded with it staying with her into adulthood, whilst still roaming free in the wild.

Longlisted for the 2025 Women's Prize for Non-Fiction.
